The work of Adel Chefidri seeks to find harmony through beauty. When a jewelry maker named Sharon met a carpenter named Jerry in 1970s California, the pair took to the road to wander and discover the meaning of life and art. They pulled to a stop on a hillside in Braintree, Vermont and have been making exquisite jewelry there ever since. Lesley Aine McKeown’s work grows out of the American Studio Art Jewelry movement of the mid-20th century. A reaction to the mechanized nature of the second World War and the plastic consumerism of the 1950s, the American Studio movement demanded that all work be done entirely in the artist’s studio to produce truly one-of-a-kind objects. Lesley’s designs walk the border between sculpture and jewelry. Fabricated in precious metals, sterling, high carat gold, designer cabochons and gemstones, these pieces reflect the Arizona designer’s remarkable aesthetic.
