Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper phyllosilicate mineral known for its intense blue-greens. It is a secondary mineral, or “minor ore” of copper, and (as the name suggests to the Latin-inclined), along with related minerals, was historically used as gold solder due to its ability to decompose to carbon dioxide and copper when exposed to heat!
In modern times, chrysocolla specimens are best appreciated as cousins to opal and turquoise, with layered depths and rich colors evocative of the best of both stones. This pair of earrings lets those blue-greens shine against polished silver, accented with a pair of lightly teal demantoid garnets. The backs are stamped with real leaves, so you’re eye-catching at every angle.
