Dendritic agates are named for the plantlike plume formations which infiltrate their chalcedony bodies. The term “dendritic” itself is derived from the Greek word “dendron,” meaning tree.
These marquise dendritic agate slices are bezel-set in sterling silver, and the “dangle” portion can be removed and hung on any other hoops or stud earrings. This pair of specimens features copper and brown-black formations in the lower half and translucent chalcedony uppers.
Back-stamped with real leaves.

Description
Stone: Dendritic agate
Metal: 925 Sterling silver bezels and snap hoops
Additional reading: Dendritic Agate is a variety of chalcedony, which is a type of microcrystalline quartz. Dendritic formations in these chalcedony specimens are mineral deposits, usually of manganese or iron oxide, that have worked their way into the fine cracks and fissures of the stone during its formation.
Historically, agate has been discovered with the artifacts of Neolithic people, and was used as healing amulets and ornamentation dating back to Babylon.
